You will then be taught about cordage, we will look at both natural and artificial and you will be shown different methods to find and make natural cordage from the plants around you. We will then go onto looking at different types of shelter which are used in bushcraft and wilderness living. A break for lunch, then it’s straight onto constructing a weatherproof leaf litter shelter from what nature has to offer, which you will be spending the night in. It’s then onto game preparation, where you will be preparing the game ready for cooking.Bushcraft Weekend Course - Blowing an ember

The remainder of the evening will be spent around the central fire where yo can relax and reflect on what you achieved during the day.

For the early birds, there may be a chance for a gentle walk through the woods, seeing if we can spot any wildlife going about their daily business. After breakfast,  we will focus on fire lighting.  We will go through the basic principles of fire lighting, where you will get a chance to have a go at fire by friction using the bow drill method. After which we will go on a nature walk through the woods, where we will be looking at the different trees and plants that surround us including some of their uses. We will then look at various ways to collect water and talk about the different methods to filter and purify it. It’s then back to camp where a woodland lunch will be waiting.
